Trump’s inclination to continue tweeting, against all advice from his staff – those rare humans who dare to suggest their Dear Leader is less than devine – is more than just his childlike absence of impulse control.
His longtime mentor in the sociopathic arts, Roy Cohn, advised him that bad press is almost as good as positive press and way better than no press. It’s well known in marketing that we’re more likely to remember the name of a product, brand or movie than whether the reviews were positive or negative.
Of course, Trump is only now discovering that what works in bizniz and in the entertainment medium of election campaigning does not steer the ship of state. At least not until he secures the loyalty of the entire military and intelligence establishment. I’m pretty sure heart attack or impeachment will happen first.
It’s very very weird to be counting on the American military to save the word by defeating the United States.
